I have the honor to present a summary of recent press items relative to anti-Jewish measures in Rumania. Confiscation of property and compulsory labor have apparently been the principal weapons employed in recent weeks against the Rumanian Jewry, although additional forms of taxation have also been directed at this minority. In connection with the announcement by the Bulgarian Government that all Jews within Sofia were to leave the city within a few days, PORUNCA VREMII of May 27 suggested, in addition to heavily applauding the action of the Bulgarians, that Ghettos be established in every Axis country, in order to suppress communist agitation.
